{"id":644,"date":"2013-04-11T16:03:02","date_gmt":"2013-04-11T16:03:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?p=644"},"modified":"2022-01-16T09:08:25","modified_gmt":"2022-01-16T16:08:25","slug":"san-juan-puerto-rico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?p=644","title":{"rendered":"San Juan, Puerto Rico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We unfortunately had to motor from Culebra to San Juan as it was soooo calm, adding the screetcher (our dedicated downwind sail) only gave us an extra 0.5-1.0KN over the engines alone.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?attachment_id=645\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-645\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-645 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010569A.jpg\" alt=\"P1010569A\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010569A.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010569A-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010569A-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rounding the Northwestern most point lays El Castillo San Felipe del Morro a sixteenth century forte that in its day was used to protect the city. Coming through the harbor you pass along side Old San Juan city and the walls and see the beautiful colors of the buildings. This gave us a different perspective over our previous shore based visit to San Juan in 2012.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?attachment_id=646\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-646\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-646\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010577A-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1010577A\" width=\"249\" height=\"207\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?attachment_id=647\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-647\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-647\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010583A-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1010583A\" width=\"244\" height=\"215\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We stayed at the San Juan Bay marina for a week and every day got up and went for a kayak ride into Laguna del Condado a popular place for water sports.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?attachment_id=648\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-648\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-648\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010592A-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1010592A\" width=\"246\" height=\"212\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?attachment_id=649\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-649\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-649\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010599A-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1010599A\" width=\"244\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We ended up buying folding bikes in Condado after the first day as it took us too long to get anywhere by bus and we walked into a folding bike store along the way. We decided it would get us to a lot of places we wouldn\u2019t otherwise go and would be a great addition to the boat. We have ridden them every day since buying them.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?attachment_id=650\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-650\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-650 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010590A.jpg\" alt=\"P1010590A\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010590A.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010590A-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010590A-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We went on a great ride through Parque Central over some bridges to Parque Lineal through to Plaza Las Americas for some air conditioning and a wander.\u00a0 While on the ride we found some wild Iguanas hanging out in the trees and swimming in the Mangrove Rivers.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?attachment_id=651\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-651\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-651\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010606A-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1010606A\" width=\"267\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?attachment_id=652\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-652\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-652\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010616A-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1010616A\" width=\"239\" height=\"237\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?attachment_id=653\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-653\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-653\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010615A-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1010615A\" width=\"252\" height=\"237\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/?attachment_id=654\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-654\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-654\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seismicwave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P1010619A-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1010619A\" width=\"234\" height=\"237\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also cruised around Condado beach area and into old San Juan.
